Dental X-rays and CBCT in Targu Jiu

From 40 lei

We have our own dental radiology laboratory, with digital equipment that allows imaging with optimised radiation doses, needed for diagnosing and planning dental treatment. We take intraoral and panoramic X-rays, lateral cephalograms and CBCT scans. The laboratory is run by medical staff trained in dental radiology.

What exactly is a dental X-ray?

A dental X-ray is an image of one tooth, several teeth or all of them, together with the bone and the neighbouring anatomical structures, taken to diagnose dental conditions.

It lets the dentist see details that are not visible to the naked eye, such as the internal structure of the teeth, the roots and the supporting bone.

These images are obtained with X-rays, which pass through the tissues and provide important information for reaching a diagnosis and planning treatment.

What can the dentist learn from a dental X-ray?

Depending on the type of radiological investigation, the dentist can identify or assess:

  • Decay that is not visible on clinical examination;
  • How far a cavity that looks small on the surface really extends;
  • Signs of dental infection;
  • Decay under or near restorations and fillings;
  • The anatomy of the roots and root canals;
  • Bone lesions, including cysts;
  • Teeth impacted in the bone;
  • The condition of teeth under prosthetic work;
  • The position and development of wisdom teeth;
  • The position and shape of the roots;
  • Bone loss associated with gum disease.

What radiological investigations do we carry out at Hevadent?

At Hevadent, we have our own dental radiology laboratory, where we carry out:

  • Intraoral dental X-rays (RVG): for a detailed examination of the teeth and the structures around them;
  • Panoramic X-rays (orthopantomograms): for an overall image of the teeth, the jaws and the neighbouring anatomical structures;
  • Lateral cephalograms: used especially in orthodontics, to assess the relationship between the jaws, the position of the teeth and the bony structures of the face. These investigations provide important information for diagnosis and for drawing up the orthodontic treatment plan;
  • Dental computed tomography (CBCT): for three-dimensional images of the anatomical structures, useful in planning dental implants, surgery and other complex treatment. We carry out scans of a half-arch, one arch or both arches, as well as of the maxillary sinus and the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).

All these investigations are carried out at the Hevadent clinic.

Intraoral dental X-rays (RVG) taken for the clinic's patients during treatment are not charged separately.

For the cost of the other radiological investigations, see the Prices section of our website.

Digital dental radiology and patient safety

Digital dental radiology produces clear, detailed images using digital technology that can reduce radiation exposure compared with conventional methods.

At Hevadent, digital images help the dentist reach a diagnosis and plan treatment.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean that an X-ray is digital
A digital X-ray uses an electronic sensor to capture the image, instead of conventional X-ray film. This technology generally allows a lower radiation dose, immediate viewing of the image on a computer, enlarging areas of interest and adjusting the contrast, for a more detailed assessment. The images can be stored and sent electronically, with no loss of quality. At Hevadent, a digital panoramic X-ray costs 85 lei, and one printed on film costs 100 lei.
Are dental X-rays dangerous
The doses used in dental imaging are small against the natural background radiation you are exposed to anyway. The principle of radiation protection is justification: every exposure should be made for a precise clinical question, with the lowest dose that yields the answer. That is why investigations are not repeated routinely, and why it is worth bringing along whatever earlier images you have.
Can I have an X-ray if I am pregnant
Yes, dental X-rays can be taken during pregnancy when they are needed for diagnosis or treatment. Tell the dentist if you are pregnant or might be. Investigations that are not needed straight away can be postponed, but those that are medically indicated can be carried out with the lowest possible radiation exposure and in line with radiation protection measures, including the use of a protective apron.
From what age can children have dental X-rays
There is no set minimum age for dental X-rays. They are recommended when they are needed for diagnosis or for planning treatment. For example, a panoramic X-ray can be useful for assessing the development of the permanent teeth or for planning orthodontic treatment. For children, the exposure settings are adapted to their age, their size and the type of investigation, to limit the radiation dose.
How long does an investigation take
Dental X-ray examinations generally take very little time. The exposure itself can range from a fraction of a second for intraoral X-rays to a few seconds or tens of seconds for panoramic X-rays and CBCT. On top of that comes the time needed to position the patient and check the images. To get clear images, it is important to stay still during the examination.
Do I get the image on film or in digital form
At Hevadent, X-rays can be provided in digital form or printed on X-ray film, depending on the type of investigation and the patient's preference. A digital panoramic X-ray costs 85 lei, and one printed on film costs 100 lei. Printing or reprinting the X-ray images later costs 40 lei.
Do I need a referral for a dental X-ray
Dental X-ray investigations are carried out on a medical indication. You can come with a referral from another dentist, stating the type of investigation and the area to be examined. To find out whether you need an appointment, you can call us on 0374 003 220 or 0762 622 208.
I gag when the sensor is put in my mouth
The gag reflex can occur during intraoral X-rays, because of where the sensor is positioned. Tell the medical staff if you have this sensitivity. Breathing slowly through your nose and focusing your attention on something else can help reduce the feeling of nausea. If the discomfort is too great, the dentist may recommend another method of examination, namely a panoramic X-ray, depending on the information needed for the diagnosis.
